Amazing piece ! This utterly unique little rug is a lovely baby's play area ! Woven by Berber women for their babies, the Zindekh are crafted somewhat like a tapestry.
The Zindekh rugs always have about the same size, roughly 75 x 45 cm, the base of the woven (or embroidered composition is most often a plastic rice bag. Much like the Boucherouite rugs, they are made from wool yarns or recycled textiles.
These miniatures are very free in their composition and color choice, oscillating between abstraction and figurative echoes, reminiscent of contemporary artworks. With a captivating uniqueness, Zindekhs are increasingly coveted by art lovers and collectors. Whether presented on their own, enhanced by a frame, or arranged as a harmonious ensemble, their charm is enchanting. These completely unique pieces are truly a source of wonder for us.
The dominant color is a serene shade of lavender, filling the central area of the rug with a plush texture. Within this lavender expanse, two unique patterns stand out: an eye-catching ellipse in the center bordered with a yellow hue surrounding a smaller navy-blue ellipse, and a smaller gold-yellow shape located toward the bottom left of the rug.
Contrasting the central lavender shade, a deep navy-blue hue forms a bold border on the left and top right edges, punctuated by a cream-colored crescent shape on the upper left corner. The bottom portion introduces a coral-red pattern resembling pebbles or grains, bridging the transition between the lavender and the navy-blue. On the edges of the rug, a mottled grey texture runs along the perimeter, enhancing the rugged charm of the piece and framing the overall design beautifully. The rich colors, combined with the intricate patterns and symbols, make this Zindekh a beautiful representation of Berber art and culture.
We regularly add new pieces as we have a huge collection that is on the process of being photographed.
We absolutely love these very unique and playful Zindeck pieces !
Every vintage rug in our collection has a history that predates its arrival. They may show signs of use or restoration, which adds to their distinctive character. Due to the fact that each rug is handmade and vintage, there may be minor variations in weaving (such as edges or width). We urge potential buyers to examine the pictures closely and to ask any questions they may have.
