Zindekh, Dima, + /- 2.4 x 1.5 feet (75 x 48 cm)

Woven by Berber women for their babies, the Zindekh are crafted somewhat like a tapestry.
The Zindekh rugs always have about the same size, roughly 75 x 45 cm, the base of the woven (or embroidered composition is most often a plastic rice bag. Much like the Boucherouite rugs, they are made from wool yarns or recycled textiles.
These miniatures are very free in their composition and color choice, oscillating between abstraction and figurative echoes, reminiscent of contemporary artworks. With a captivating uniqueness, Zindekhs are increasingly coveted by art lovers and collectors. Whether presented on their own, enhanced by a frame, or arranged as a harmonious ensemble, their charm is enchanting. These completely unique pieces are truly a source of wonder for us.

Dima : It's an abstract composition of fluid and meandering lines. The design has a free and flowing essence, possibly symbolizing elements of nature such as water streams or pathways, typical of tribal expressions. A color palette dominated by soft shades of pink and beige, punctuated by deep and contrasting black lines that surround the pastel patterns. These strong and swirling lines evoke a sense of movement, fluidity, and spontaneity, giving the rug a feeling of lively and flowing dynamism. This mini Zindekh Berber rug is a captivating piece that reminds me of some drawings by the painter Henri Matisse.
