What a surprising piece ! This utterly unique little rug is a lovely baby's play area ! Woven by Berber women for their babies, the Zindekh are crafted somewhat like a tapestry.
The Zindekh rugs always have about the same size, roughly 75 x 45 cm, the base of the woven (or embroidered composition is most often a plastic rice bag. Much like the Boucherouite rugs, they are made from wool yarns or recycled textiles.
These miniatures are very free in their composition and color choice, oscillating between abstraction and figurative echoes, reminiscent of contemporary artworks. With a captivating uniqueness, Zindekhs are increasingly coveted by art lovers and collectors. Whether presented on their own, enhanced by a frame, or arranged as a harmonious ensemble, their charm is enchanting. These completely unique pieces are truly a source of wonder for us.

This particular piece exhibits a medley of rich, contrasting colors and textures, rendering it both visually striking and tactile.Prominently, the rug features a central, rectangular patch that's shaded in a muted mix of pink and purple hues, giving it an almost vintage appearance. This central patch is bordered by a deeper purple and is set against a vivid backdrop of various patches, each with its own unique color and texture. To the top left, there's a patch of a deep, velvety brown which juxtaposes with a vibrant orange section adjacent to it. The right upper corner has a bold shade of electric blue. On the bottom part of the rug, there's an intriguing play of colors ranging from dark brown, coral orange, to pristine white and a hint of turquoise, seamlessly blending into one another. The rug also exhibits some patches of natural beige, adding a neutral contrast to the lively shades.
